Presentation Sisters leave Wexford after 205 years

Wexford Parish and the Community say goodbye. On the 13 October 2023 after 205 years of the Presentation Sister Community here in Wexford, coming here on the 2 October 1818.  A very special day of celebration continued in the afternoon with a tree planting ceremony to mark the Presentation Sisters’ departure from Wexford. Sr Grace Redmond & Sr Helen Lenehan planted an oak tree, a symbol of wisdom, on the school grounds. Its roots will grow deep and branches wide, representative of the enormous impact that the Presentation Sisters have had and will continue to have in the Wexford community. Celebrations continued Friday evening with a mass of thanksgiving the main celebrant was Most Rev. Bishop Ger Nash D.D. Bishop of Ferns at  the Church of Immaculate Conception Rowe Street Church. On behalf of the Presentation Sisters and School, a heartfelt thanks to the huge numbers who attended to show their appreciation and gratitude for 205 years of service to the Wexford Community. Well done to all involved in the preparations for the evening, especially The School chaplain Mr Grannell and Fr Danny McDonald and the amazing choir under the direction of Ms Mahon. And the Schools lovely reception in the School gymnasium afterwards.
